Field elegy | solo sound performance, combining field recordings, synthesizers and sound effects (glitch, lo-fi, delays and reverbs)

“a spontaneous arrangement of sounds, evoking a sense of nostalgia for a time and place that never really existed“

Work description:

February 2025, Field elegy was played at the experimental music event, Open Decks, organised by Sound Thought, at The Flying Duck, Glasgow (UK).

This live performance features sound collages of field recordings made by the artist over the course of a decade, whose spontaneous arrangement will evoke a sense of nostalgia for a time and place that never really existed. A space where what surrounds him still scrolls by, but in an unsettlingly light order. A space in which his own images are reflected, but incidentally, refracted. The ephemerality of this fictional space is punctuated by a minimal use of analogue synthesiser.  This musical layer tends to be as melodic as it is abstract, favouring simplicity with harmonies and clear progressions whose texture is cottony and airy, as if they had always inhabited this ephemeral place, floating like a subtle play of lights.
